Our Story

I just want to give you a little history of my upbringing here in Dixon, along with how I arrived at ownership of Precision Automotive and what has influenced my work ethic. I was raised right here in Dixon and I enjoyed a wonderful family that loved and supported me. I spent my young life doing all the normal and fun things a kid would want to do ... school, sports (baseball, football & track), family vacations, and even a few lessons involving swimming, piano, and tumbling!

The automotive ‘bug’ had a real connection for me and I felt it early in my life, as a youth. My dad recalls stories of small-engine repairs going on in our garage at home ... involving the snow blower, lawnmowers, and even a go-cart that I begged to have. I grew up hearing stories of my Grandpa Bob Chinouth owning and operating Bear Wheel Alignment located at the southern ‘point’ of Galena and Peoria Avenues in Dixon. I knew at an early age what I wanted my career path to be, no doubt. High School brought forth new adventures involving cars ... driving, working on them, the opportunity to attend Whiteside Area Vocational Center (now Whiteside Area Career Center), and pursuing a job to get some experience. I want to give a ‘shout-out’ of appreciation to Mark Schafer, an awesome automotive instructor at WAVC ~ he definitely was a great influence on me. I owe a debt of gratitude to Bob Fassler ... he was the sole owner of Precision Automotive in Dixon for 40+ years. I went to him for a part-time job at the beginning of my senior year in high school and he took a chance on me!

Upon graduating from high school, I departed for Laramie, Wyoming to attend WyoTech (Wyoming Technical Institute). That fall, I moved back out west to Greeley, Colorado, and worked at Midas, as well as Big-O Tires. Those jobs also gave me the experience of doing a job in a correct and timely manner. I gained insight into communicating with customers and managers. I returned to Dixon in August 2013 and started working for Bob Fassler at Precision Automotive again. I married Mackenzie Ryan and we have two sons, Silas and Sivic, ages 8 and 5. Bob Fassler was all about integrity, honesty, and quality ... and those are the same attributes that have been instilled in me. With Bob’s impending retirement, I approached him about buying the business. In December 2019, the deal was successfully transacted.

The team at Precision Automotive includes my wife, Mackenzie, in the office. Alongside myself in the shop, I have mechanics Tyler Grossman and Cody Kemp. You might also see my dad, Greg, as he stops by to handle some bookkeeping duties for us. All are welcome at Precision Automotive and we value your patronage. We handle automobile and light truck repair, including brake service, oil change, tire rotation, diagnostics, electrical repair, and pre-purchase inspection. In addition, please remember how important preventative maintenance is for your vehicle!
